Earl and Libby Song Ministry

Earl was born on May 16, 1935 to Lucian and Alma Mays. His dad was a preacher and also a gospel singer but passed away when Earl was only 10 months old. His mother raised him and his brother Kenneth and worked on public work to keep her family together. She went home to be with the Lord in 1987.

Earl was saved in May 1944 and learned to play the guitar in his early teen years. At age 15, he felt a burning desire to follow in his Dad's footsteps and use his talent for the Lord. He started singing in local churches and doing radio programs and that is where he met Don Williams, his friend and co-worker for 34 years.

They formed a partnership in 1951 and became known as "Don & Earl, The Christian Gospel Singers". Before long their radio program was extended from a local station in Knoxville to some of the largest radio stations in the world. They were singing everyday to every state in the nation and 20 foreign countries on stations like WCKY, Cincinnati, Ohio - WWVA Wheeling, W.Va. - XERF Del Rio, Texas. - XEG Monterrey, Mexico. - XERB Hollywood, Calif. - CFOR Ontario, Can. Their program was on over 100 radio stations. Their personal appearance schedule kept them on the road a lot as they sang an average of 150 churches a year.

This all came to an end on March 5, 1985 when Don passed away. After a lot of thought and prayer, Earl knew he had to keep going and do the work that God had called him to do. His wife Libby joined him and they have kept the song ministry going until this present time. She never had any desire to be before the public and sing but when God spoke to her heart about joining Earl, she was willing to obey him.

Together they travel all year and labor in various churches across the country without a price and depend on God and the generosity of his people to meet their expenses. They are members of an old fashioned KJV Bible believing church, The Gospel Baptist Church on A Ave. in Knoxville, TN. Pastor I.A. Sparks.

Libby was born on June 26, 1936 to Samuel and Mollie Joiner. Her Dad also passed away when she was 10 months old and her mother passed away in 1981. She was saved as a young teenage girl in 1951. She first met Earl when she went to work at the radio station where Don and Earl were working.

They were married in April of 1957 and have two children and four grandchildren.

Their daughter Vicki is married to Bill Nelson and they have a son, Nathan, and a daughter, Elise. Their son Randy is married to Tammy (Wolfe) and they have a son, Jason, and a daughter, Bailey.
